We renovate floors - day in, day out. Only through such a specialist approach have we developed the breadth of experience necessary to safely take on the many and varied problems we encounter with hard floors. As well as our bread-and-butter work involving stripping and resealing dirty and worn floors, there is an enjoyable variation to our work.

Alexander Pope’s (apparently misquoted) epigram "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing" has served us well over the years. A lot of people seem to know a little bit about tiled and flagstone floors and that’s where the problems arise. Whilst much of our work involves the imparting of some "tlc" to uncared-for and tired-looking floors, a significant amount of our work involves troubleshooting.

Consultancy
Whether it is the adjudicating of disputes between unhappy clients and their builders/tilers or the hands-on removal of wholly inappropriate sealers from new and very expensive terracotta and stone floors, our experience is invaluable. We can give definitive answers to flooring problems, workmanship etc providing written reports where necessary and, wherever possible, suggesting practical solutions.

Insurance
As the number of stone and terracotta floors in the UK has increased over the past 10-15 years, so has our involvement in contracts that are the result of insurance claims. Invariably these involve flooding or leaks (very occasionally fire) but they can also involve restoring floors that have been damaged by other trades in the process of "cleaning-up operations" elsewhere in a property. We offer full contract management on flooring claims to Fire & Flood Restoration companies, Insurers, Loss Adjusters and Claims Management companies from initial rapid-response site surveys to eventual renovation or replacement of damaged floors.

Period Floors
With the current vogue for restoration, we are getting more and more calls along the lines of "We have just moved into this house and taken the carpets up and there is a lovely old stone/quarry tiled/Minton floor underneath but it is very dirty and we are not sure if it’s worth trying to save it". Of course, in theory, it is worth trying to save it. Whether or not we can, depends on what we find. However, again, our experience ensures you will be getting the definitive answer and there is little we find more rewarding than sympathetically restoring an old floor to its former glory.
